TO DO BEFORE WINTER

- Work party in early November (fencing etc)

- Drain water tank

- Schedule a whole group meeting

TO DO BEFORE SEPTEMBER 16 Work Party:

- Outline the expanded guilds or "islands" so we know where to dig

- Gather plantain seeds to scatter in the grassy areas (lots are ripening now)

- Get more field peas

- Talk about/decide on fencing?

- What else? WORK ON GRANTS!

Here are the thoughts and ideas from the email thread on 7/19-21.

Please let us all know if you have additional ideas or thoughts.

TO DO BETWEEN NOW & LATISH AUGUST:

- Send out a doodle poll for August work party

- Gather plantain seeds when they ripen. Other seeds to gather now?

- Find out about putting buckets under the barn dripline

- Mow the mulch plot ever so often, leaving the clippings of course

- Cut more of the fleabane and add to the pile

- Collect soil samples for testing from the garden plot

TO BUY BEFORE AUGUST WORK PARTY:  We can order seed from Fedco or Johnny's if we can't get the quantity we need locally. Or we can probably order whatever quantity in advance through West Leb Supply.

- buckwheat, oats and peas - amount TBD (15-20 lbs? Maybe more if we seed the guilds)

- clover (maybe alfalfa too)

- gas for tiller

TO DO AT WORK PARTY IN LATISH AUGUST:

- Plant pear tree

- Till garden, spread some Pro-Gro and thickly sow oats, peas, and buckwheat (we might need to wait for what we tilled in to break down a bit before seeding) We can borrow Duncan's tiller.

- Cultivate/till? around fruit trees, add ProGro and sow oats, peas, and buckwheat for winter cover and soil improvement for guilds

- Anything else?

TO DO WHEN WE HAVE A RAINY SPELL IN FALL

- spread Pro-Gro and then interseed clover, conservation mix, and maybe alfalfa on the mulch plot

- do we want to sow more conservation mix in the field, too?

TO DO BEFORE WINTER

- fencing

OTHER THINGS

- Cat says:  It's on my list to talk to Scott about a Raise the Blade Campaign, at least at Clifford Park if not all parks. My organic lawn care friends all say 4" but here is a campaign promoting 3" which is better than the 1 - 2" the P&R currently does. The campaign also suggests leaving clippings rather than carting them away. Here are two short videos produced by the Lake Champlain Basin Program: https://lawntolake.org/resources-2/videos/

- Is it time to think about applying for fall grants?
